Our Volunteers

The Newtownbreda Child Contact Centre is run by a senior co-ordinator and supported by two assistant co-ordinators.  In addition, we have a team of around 20 volunteers who help on a rotational basis.

All team members are Access NI checked and volunteers receive induction training in safeguarding, child protection and dealing with conflict.  They are then subject to a 6 month trial period and if considered suitable receive ongoing volunteer training.

We expect all our team members to be friendly and enthusiastic, re-assuring and caring, able to demonstrate common sense and maturity and able to understand issues that affect separating families.

Coordinators have also been trained in the ‘Safe Church Award' which was developed to empower churches to recognise and respond to Domestic Violence and Abuse both within the church and wider community context.  To achieve this award churches must attend three mandatory tiers of CPD certified training, primarily aimed at clergy and those with a responsibility for safeguarding within the church.
